Dynamic Balance – Improve Your Walking Balance
My annual month long balance challenge is back! This one which starts March 1st is all about dynamic balance. The links for the YouTube videos for the challenge are at the bottom of the page.
Dynamic balance is your ability to stay steady while moving — whether you’re walking on uneven ground, stepping off a curb, climbing stairs, or turning quickly when someone calls your name.
Unlike static balance (standing still on one foot), dynamic balance keeps you stable in motion — and that’s what daily life requires.
Strong dynamic balance helps you:
- Catch yourself when you trip
- Adjust quickly on uneven surfaces
- React to unexpected movement
- Walk more confidently
- And have more fun with things like travel, playing pickle ball, or doing activities with grandkids!
Here are a few signs that can signal your dynamic balance needs a little work: - Hesitating on stairs
- Feeling unsteady when turning quickly
- Grabbing furniture when walking
- Avoiding uneven surfaces
- Slower reaction when bumped or startled
But don’t worry, its never too late to improve it!! The March Balance Challenge will help 🙂 As always please let me know if you have questions or would like ways to modify the challenge or progress it.
